Himalayan
Gardens 12th May
Seven members of the club met in Leyburn Market
Place for the planned visit to the Himalayan Gardens, near
Grewelthorpe. The day was sunny and pleasantly warm but a strong
wind restricted any ambition towards macro photography. Fortunately
the garden has some good open vistas, which gave plenty of scope for
open views. Everyone had a good day, gathered some attractive images
and, in my case, a few garden plants as well.
Some of the images have already appeared on the
club’s group site at:

It remains to extend our thanks to Digby for
coordinating the trip.
The next planned outing is to the National
Railway Museum site at Shildon in County Durham. June 4th,
2009.

Wensleydale Camera Club now has its own
group site on Flickr:

Members of the group are invited to post
pictures or take part in discussions, ask advise, pass on tips etc.
Membership of our Flickr group is not restricted
to members of Wensleydale Camera Club so any interested
photographers are welcome to join in with the action.
Shildon
Railway Museum 4 June
6 members of the camera club and one guest met
for the club's visit to Shildon. The day was very overcast but as
most of the museum exhibits are indoors the weather was not a
problem. As a museum most of us found it interesting, but as a
photographic location it proved challenging. Strong overhead
lighting, reflective surfaces, and some overcrowding of exhibits all
combined to create problems for photography enthusiasts.
Set against that, the museum was quiet, and
using tripods was not a problem. Most of us got plenty of pictures
but mostly of detail shots rather than open vistas of engines.
Whitby 17 June
Members and guest joined the Royal British
Legion for a coach outing to Whitby on 17 June.
One arrival the sea was calm, the sun was out
and everything could have been set for a good day's photography - or
could it?
The wind rattled out of the east, the rain arrived, the fishing
boats headed for shelter - and even the gulls gave up. Lots of cafes
were explored. Ah well - better luck with the weather next year
Thorpe Perrow 2 July
Six members joined the visit to Thorpe Perrow
where they enjoyed a hot, sunny day in the arboretum. Some of the
resulting pictures cab be seen on Flikr:
