Competition No 1 - Open Category 24th October 2011


Simon Phillpotts a West Burton wildlife photographer judged our first winter season competition. From the 31 entries in the digital projected images section there were commended for Secretary Jonathan Woolley with “Semerwater Dawn”, Treasurer Terry Thistlethwaite with “No Graffiti” and two for Saskia Slavin with “Oliver Twist” and “Surfers”. In third place was Lewis Marshall with “Viewpoint”, second was our Treasurer again, Terry Thistlethwaite with “Bank of Steam”, and first was Jonathan Woolley with “Butterfly and Tulipa”. On the points leader board Lewis is fourth, Saskia third, Terry second and Jonathan is first.

There were 21 entries in the prints section. There were commended for “The Three of Us” by Raymond Ryder, and “Ripon Cathedral” by Lewis Marshall. Third place went to Saskia Slavin with “Chained”, second to Jonathan Woolley with the “Tannery - Fez”, and Saskia took first with “Vampires”.

On the leader board Raymond and Terry are joint third, Jonathan is second and Saskia is firmly in the lead.

Christine Whitehead the Chairman proposed the well deserved vote of thanks.

Competition No 2 - Past its Best 14th November 2011


Ian Whittaker from Healey had the daunting task of judging almost 50 entries in the Club's "Past it's best" competition.

In the digital projected images Jason Weatherill, one of our younger members, had a commended for "Am I worth repairing" and third for "There is a hole in my roof". Not to be outdone Jason's father Colin took second with "Old dairy" taken in Coverdale. First was Jonathan Woolley with "Last furrow ploughed" of an old Ferguson tractor.

In the print section Robert Helliwell had a commended for "Old scores", Jonathan Woolley was third with "Rusting roadster", Margaret Burnett was second with "Falling" of a rose past it's best and young member Saskia Slavin took first with "All alone".

Ian Whittaker awarded "Best in Show" to Saskia's print which he described as outstanding quality, before Chairman Christine Whitehead proposed a well earned vote of thanks.

Competition Results 2011/2012

Over the three competitions in prints, Bob Helliwell and Colin Weatherill are in joint third place, Jonathan Woolley is second and 11 yr old Saskia Slavin wins the print competition for this year.  


In digital projected images Colin Weatherill is third, Saskia Slavin has moved up to second, and Jonathan Woolley wins first place.

Competition No  - Industrial 12th December 2011


On a wet and blustery Monday evening a full house turned out to hear local photographer and artist George Bridger judge the Club's third competition of the season on the subject of "Industrial".

In the print section there were highly commended for Bob Helliwell with the Dairy Industry and Jonathan Woolley with the Tanning Industry. Jonathan Woolley was also third with Pressure Vessel at Gunnerside, Bob Helliwell was second with Cogs of Industry, and Colin Weatherill came first with No Flames Tonight - a photo of Teeside industry.

In the digital projected images there were highly commended for Saskia Slavin with God hates us all, Industry Controls by Bob Helliwell, and Turbine at Woodhall by Jonathan Woolley. Third was Colin Weatherill with Crane, second was Saskia Slavin with Symmetry, and Chairman Christine Whitehead took first with Teeside
