Thornborough
Hall September Exhibition
Anybody interested in
local history within living memory could well visit Wensleydale
Camera Club's exhibition, kindly sponsored by Leyburn Town Council,
at Thornborough Hall.
The exhibition, with free
entry, runs on weekdays from Wednesday 2nd September to
Tuesday 15th September, from 9am to 5pm.
A special feature is the
public display of Jean Johnson's archive of Dales local history
based on hundreds of pages from newspaper cuttings from 1942 to
1999.
Jean, a native of West
Witton, lived locally from 1923-1999; she collected and maintained a
meticulous scrapbook during the last 45 years of her life.
Wensleydale Camera Club is
showing a selection of prints from the "Wensleydale in Camera"
exhibition. This exhibition, spanning the last 50 years, was last
seen three years ago and was visited by over 1,200 people. If you
missed it then, you now have a chance to see some of it again.
In addition to the old
photographs, Camera Club members are displaying a selection of
current photographic prints from the 2008/9 annual competition.
Wensleydale Camera Cub and
